Tony Crease informs me that at least half of the regulars at Foxglove Covert will be away over that weekend, leaving a small contingent to look after us. Accommodation is at Wathgill as always and meals out. I will provide further details when known but any participants will get an excellent weekend's ringing provided that the weather (for a change) behaves.

If interested please post on this forum and as usual, the weekend is open to other Service ringers.

Welcome to the club Jo!

It would be great to see you at Catterick for the weekend. I don't know Dave Stone personally but that is not a problem. Where do you usually ring?

We have a few other AOS ringing activities coming up during the year and I'll be advertising on here and direct to ringers to give you plenty of warning.

Cheers

Roger

Thanks Roger, I'm looking forward to ringing with other people - not that there is anything wrong with the people I ring with!!!

I belong to Brandon RG, Warwickshire. It is a CES site, focussing on the reed beds. Brandon Marsh NR is the HQ for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

I'll keep a look out for the ringing activities.

Best wishes,
Jo

Current plan is for those who can, to meet at the Bird Fair and then make their way to Wathgill Training Camp for overnight accommodation. All to be there by 7 pm by which time Major Tony Crease will have allocated us some bunk rooms. Programme is then:

Friday 18 Aug.
By 7 pm arrive at Wathgill and find accn block.
7:30 pm head out to a pub or restaurant for a meal.

Saturday 19 Aug.
05:00 Reveille.
05:30 Meet at Foxglove Covert gates.
06:00 Put up nets and join in the Foxglove routine for CES.
10:00 Sandwiches and drinks run to Catterick.
15:00 Close nets and clear up. Return to Wathgill on completion.
19:00 Meet to go out for a meal. Hopefully a chance to take out the host ringers that have assisted us during the day.

Sunday 20 August.
05:00 Reveille.
05;30 depart for Foxglove or local site depending on weather conditions.
06:00 - 12:00 Ring.
13:00 Depart for home.

Dress for ringing ie old clothes and something to wear in the evenings.
Take a towel!
Bedding is usually provided but a sleeping bag is useful as back-up.
Ringers should take their personal ringing kit and notebooks. Ringers' necklaces must be brought - furling stick are optional.
Those ringing for the first time need not be concerned with kit as it will be provided.
All other equipment will be provided by Foxglove and we can expect to ring with several of the home team.
Rings are provided by the Swaledale group and it would be appreciated if a personal donation was made before leaving on the Sunday.
Breakfast is what you bring with you but tea, coffee and cakes will be provided courtesy of the home team. A lunch run will be made for sandwiches.

Many of the home team will be away during our visit and, in the absence of an A ringer from the Swaledale group, I will be Ringer-in-Charge for the weekend.

All those interested are to say so through this website or the AOS Facebook.
